No, they can use them two-handed...with Monkey Grip I think they can use them one handed...sick shit. They are great outdoors characters, but will be fairly limited when stuff goes underground.
As for the Cleric, any deity will suffice, but some of the minor nature oriented ones would do better like Auril, Shaundakul, Gwaeron Windstrom, the elemental ones, or the more standard ones like Chauntea, Silvanus, or Eldath. I think Oghma and Mystra would be great too as would Lathander, especially in his more ancient persona.

I see...I see...
Well, I'll have to work on some stuff. Haven't quite decided how I wanna go just yet. I'll send you some stuff when I get it worked out...I'd like to see what the others end up doin' as well.

the Goliath is certainly a mean beast...plus they arent stupid...just simple and nature oriented...they look fairly human as well. You will be at a serious disadvantage once things go underground, but for the first few adventures when everyone else is grabbing shovels and you can grab a tree it will be worth it =P

Hopefully I'll be cozy enough with the sun elf wizard so I can get shrink cast on me.

I don't really care what I play. I'll pick up what ever the group is short on. Just one small request. Can I play something other than a gnome?
*grin* j/k. Gnomes make cool little characters if you play them right. I just have one thing to add, Bards in general is the LAMEST prefered class of all of the standard races.
Really... I'm level 1 and I still can't cast a level 1 spell? Level 2 and unless I have a 14+ cha I STILL can't cast a level 1 spell?
If you're going to include a gnome as a premade, I suggest you oldschool him into Illusionist, or perhaps a simple wizard.

lol...I'll tell you though...that Prestige Bard is kinda nice. That's the way to go if you'd like that Performer or Wandering Minstrel kind of flare. If it's allowed of course... As for group composition...I still haven't decided what to do. I'm toying with a few concepts.

If you're looking for Monk. Pick up a level of Monk then 5 levels of sorcerer. There's a feat in the Complete Adventurer that allows you to multi freely as a Monk/Sorcerer and lets you add your CHA or your WIS to your AC (which ever is better) Then pick up a few levels of Enlightened Fist and boom... big ass, unarmed, unarmored, war machine with 9th level spells!!!

lol... That's awesome...I kept thinking that the feats to do the multiclassing were in Unearthed Arcana...phew... Yeah, I'm going to have to. I'd like to do something a little different...maybe Monk/Druid with a focus on the Wis (duh!?) and Dex and deliver some nasty Druid touch spells with a nice unarmed strike. Of course...he'd be quiet and contemplative.

Hey Josh...in the FR Campaign Setting, they list a few Monk orders that one can belong to and some multiclassing exceptions. If I belonged to the appropriate order in my pre-slave life, could I take on the appropriate multiclass options given to them? lol I've got a fun little build in mind I'd like to play with. Note that they don't give them free range to multiclass, but are very particular. They even note appropriate PrC's, if allowed, for the various orders. I'm thinking of one of Ilmaeter's orders...
