"Alright then." The Thorgar stated as a matter of fact. “I believe our business here is finished.”
“You two”, nodding to Stenton or Jaymes. “Grab yur tools and be off. We will hold Master Highbringer here till the elf returns.”
Nodding to Jack as he went out to finish this evening’s business, “The best we can do this evening is stop this forth attack. Any type of retaliation this evening will likely come out as an aggressive move by the Pretens.”
“Let us finish our business this evening and see how this all plays out.”

(((Since we got two PC's here...we'll move on for the sake of wrapping up a story.))) Jaymes and Stenton grabbed their gear from Thorgar and nodded to him. "Thanks, Dwarf," Stenton told him, "We'll be back later. You can hand him over to us after we go to get the money if you like, if East hasn't shown up before then. But then we're out of town as soon as possible...coin or no coin. Staying here isn't safe for us. We just pissed off some very dangerous people, whether they're Drachens or Drow. They'll be looking for us to settle the score." The two men left on foot, moving quickly through the city streets. They left Highbringer alone with the group. "So...what now?" Highbringer asked. *** The night was quiet. Jack had desperately searched the streets for word of any large gathering of mercenaries or plans to raid any warehouses, but he found nothing. His connections in Illul weren't what they were in Lethtar for the time being, and the group was forced to wait. The silence was deafening. Everyone sat, waiting for the familiar sound of an explosion to occur. It was two hours past midnight when East found them. He spoke quickly in hopes of leaving as soon as possible. "We're getting out of Illul. We'll travel to Lethtar tonight, but we're not taking the roads. If you're leaving tonight as well or in the morning, you'll likely beat us there. We can't afford to enter the city through normal means at this point, "We have conncections in Illul, but we won't stay any longer than a tenday...and that will be pushing it for us. From there we'll move on to another safe haven. Likely we'll spend some time in South Lantan while things cool down here. I'd rather this Blood War situation be resolved before we show our faces here, "I've spoken with S'varyl regarding her brother. She is saddened, and is not ready to speak on it just yet. When we are in Illul, I will contact you. If she chooses to speak to you then, it will be arranged. She says that she has an uncle in Lethtar and will be spending time with him and sending word to her family through him. I don't think she'll be returning just yet. She is an equal member in the Jasper Blades right now. As such, she is in equal peril. She will travel with us to South Lantan for now, "As I promised earlier, we will speak with whomever you like. But I don't think our information will be very incriminating. As I said, answers regarding the Drow often lay under the earth. I know of no one willing to investigate the Underdark, no matter what they might prove with it. Nor do I know what stake the Drow might have in such an attack. We took the job because it promised to be an easy one, and because it was too good to pass up for the coin. I realize you hold the law in higher regards than we do. There is honor in that. But I would hope you overlook our intention now that it has been done away with, "As for Jaden Highbringer, I'd request that you release him. He has no more information than I do in the matter and will be of little value as a prisoner. Likely, his imprisonment will mean his death if you return him to Lethtar and he has in fact angered the Drachens. He is often bold in his motivations and methods, but he is not an evil man. He takes pride in his work and his abilities like anyone else, it's just that his gifts lay in a different realm than most. And...above all else...he is my friend. And in most regards I am much like him. Particularly when I had nothing to lose...before I had S'varyl Rel." East waited for arrangements to be made for Highbringer and then left. *** 5 Alturiak 1372It seemed obvious by morning that the attacks were not to occur, or that if they did somehow they'd happened in a more silent manner. East, S'varyl Rel and the Jasper Blades had left several hours ago after arrangements had been made for Highbringer and before the sun rose. It promised to be a good day. (((Okay...when are you boys headed back to Lethtar...and...are you headed back to Lethtar. If you'd like...you could move on south to Stagart and sell those goods in the Dwarven city. Also...I need to know what you did with Highbringer. Josh: if you wanna chat with the man, we can do that via PM with you and him over drinks before he leaves. I also need to know what happened to poor old Sled. I like him you know. Best NPC I ever created in three seconds. lol Let me know what the course of action is...then we'll move you boys along to the next scene. Whether that be in Lethtar, Stagart or Illul...or...if you're feeling crazy...I guess somewhere else would work too. lol)))

Sled is going to become Arelian's new best friend. Arelian will basically do his best to maintain a friendly status with him and all that he asks is that Sled keeps an ear out for any 'useful' information that comes across the city.
Arelian would like to make a friend out of highbringer, or at the least establish a status quo. He doesn't want to constantly look over his shoulder for him as an enemy.
Arelian will help arrange for some of the gunpowder to be shipped back to Lethar and kept in a preferrably neutral warehouse. He may require it for other purposes eventually.
Arelian doesn't mind going to Stagart since they are relatively close to sell their loot, (must be hard carrying all that) assuming nothing of interest happens in stagart...Arelian would then like to get back to the big city.

(((Okay... Do you want Sled to hang around town in Illul? He's willing to. And he's pretty familiar with the "street" scene here. The Highbringer/Friend situation is a bit trickier. Just know that you probably have an acquaintance in East and potential friend in S'varyl...depending on how she takes the Kesson news and whatnot. East obviously likes her...so things with him depend largely on her. The Jasper Blades are a group of mercenaries. Their friendship is bought. lol You just have to wait and see. If somebody pays them to do something and you stand in your way, they'll probably fight through you if they can. For East...that's kinda the "warrior's code," so to speak. You're only friends until you're enemies. Finding the gunpowder, all kidding aside, will take time. The warehouses are large. These guys plan was to essentially pepper the places with arrows until one of them caught fire...eventually the fire was bound to burn to the ale...which would quickly carry it to the gunpowder. As soon as something caught fire in the building, each one was essentially a ticking time bomb with a random timer. Something I rather liked. Anyhow...the gunpowder has to be located, and acquiring it will require Preten/Jack cooperation. Not that it's impossible. As for Stagart...it's a day's ride with Jervis' pony and the goods you'll have to haul. Jonathan was sending things ahead of you into Illul. I assume that the goods you acquired in Featherale are there. You could travel there, spend a day and sell the goods, then ride back to Lethtar. All in all...you're looking at the following timeline: 1 day to Stagart, 1 day there, 1 day back to Illul, 2 days to Lethtar. If you leave this morning, though you're tired...your horses are rested...you could spend the 5th in Stagart, the 6th selling stuff, the 7th travelling to Illul, the 8th and 9th travelling to Lethtar. That puts you back in Lethtar on the evening of 9 Alturiak 1372. Sorry for the lengthy thinking out loud...just wanted everyone to see the process. lol BTW...Jervis' bird is back. *cough* weirdo *cough* Also, at some point you'll have Burning Braziers possibly arriving in Illul looking to aid you in your struggle. They're a little late to the party, but still showing up. If that sounds good to the players present...the other players can deal with it when they get back. lol Assuming you're all fine with spending a good chunk of your downtime like that and delaying your trip back to Jonathan/Lethtar...we'll proceed as such. We've got the Dwarf around, and he's the most important part for getting into/out of and selling in the city. )))

Thorgar Ironstar had a slight reputation amongst his clan. Especially with the younger Dwarves. Isolationism was an idea favored by the Elders, not the young. The youngest of Dwarves felt safe in Stagart, and always wanted to keep it that way. But they longed for adventure and circumstances that would require them to protect their Dwarven way of life. They wanted to be the master craftsmen and warrior that Thorgar so clearly was.
It was ironic in a way. Their desire to become like Thorgar got many of them into some type of trade. They learned the ways of the hammer and anvil from a master. Or they schooled with the clergy in the great temple of their family's deity, Moradin. Their fire brought them to those trades, but those trades forged them and doused the fire with patience and training. Few would master their trade. Even fewer would be able to rival Thorgar's mastery. Maybe a handful would manage master both the warrior's trade and the smith's. And it was widely believed that none would be gifted by the Lord Moradin himself.
It was rare on this island for the gods to grant a piece of divinity to mortals on this island, and the Dwarves had been especially blessed in that regard. And Moradin was amongst those to be especially blessed. As a respected clergyman of Moradin, he held a higher rank than most his age did in the clan. It was likely that someday he would become an Elder himself, responsible for all his clan's decisions, and an equal voice in the governing of Stagart. But that was many years away for Thorgar. For now, he was dealt with all of his family's business outside the city. And his latest charge was Arikias Kolendur.
"Thorgar, miboy, it's good to see you," came the uproarous, booming voice of Hignar Ironboot. He offered his hand to his son and then drew him in close with a hard hitting, armor pounding hug. He was smiling from ear to ear and laughing as he looked at them all.
The group, except for Thorgar and his nephews, had been asked to peacebond their weapons at the main entrance to the underground, cavernous city. The haul from Featherale was checked, despite Thorgar's presence, and then allowed into the city. A few brief questions were asked of Thorgar in the Dwarven tongue and then they were permitted to enter.
"And I'd know a Kolendur anywhere. Yer as ugly as yer father, lad!" Hignar said next looking to Arik. He shook the Human's hand with both of his own, wrapping it tightly. "Thorgar, introduce me to the company yer keepin' miboy. Then we'll go and have a drink and you and I can get down to business about yer latest messages, aye?"
After exchanging greetings and brief conversations with each of the group members and then offering a special welcome to the Wolves, particularly his two grandchildren, Hignar led them all to his private home. Drinks were poured for all as Thorgar was brought aside to Hignar's office for a brief chat before joining the others.
"I'm sorry no one was sent to aid you in Illul. I needed time to think it over, and time just wasn't on my side. I said a prayer for you and felt assured that you would be safe in yer conflicts. Now...on other matters, aye?"

(((I believe that Thorgar has pretty much priced out what he can get for everything already...tomorrow, he'll have to spend some time doing it, but he'll pretty much be able to unload everything. Gemstones and all. He'll get a gold price for it all, and then you can all split the goods how you see fit.)))

Well, other then that, Arelian shall enjoy the drawves generous hospitality and then wander around and enjoy the sights of the city. Not to mention finding out what is going on within the city on 'both' sides of the law.
He shall also make sure he is taken care of himself (Clothes, sleep, food, etc.)

Yeah. I read it...nothing that would cause jack to go out of his way...more just to look at the art and what not on this way to a tavern.
