OOC: I haven't finished reading all the IC posts yet. I was about off and on today as I was roaming about the great Northland of Michigan fixing stuff.
But there is no way in the Nine Hells Serol is letting Highbringer walk out of here for the following reasons.
1: Serol has a history with Highbringer and the Jasper Blades. He was a pain in the ass then and he will continue to be so.
2: He would sell out his own mother for the right amount of gold. Trusting him to any capasity is out of the question.
3: He has commited crimes in the past and in the future to the good people of Lantan and he will be made to account for it.
4: He had agreed, and would have committed acts against Jonathan Preten (and his alliance with Kossuth). The fact that he was just a hired sword does not absolve him of this fact.
5: There is new leadership in the Jasper Blades, so it is doubtful that there will be any retaliation by them. They should consider themselves lucky that they are not all being made to account for his actions.
6: He refused to give us the information Serol demanded of him. East did, against the urging of Highbringer. In Serol's mind that made him a dead man.
Serol will not relent on this issue even if it means he has to go toe to toe with Arik, Jack or Jervis. This is a matter of Relegious Zellotery.
P.S. Happy to RP any of this out *beam*

Time is the fluid that carries us all. Whether it casts you to and fro, wears you down over the centuries or passes you by as it slips through your fingers. Time is a companion that goes with us on a journey. It reminds us to cherish each moment, because it will never come again. After rejoining the group with his father, it was now time to Drink!

(((ROFL...I'm fine with that. If you'd like, you can take him in tow with you as a prisoner. East will agree to let you take him back, though he'll want Jaden Highbringer to be given an opportunity to be tried for the crime. East won't fight you though. He wants to keep his people safe, and he'll realize that cutting Jaden is the best idea to do that. You can keep him as a prisoner...and the Dwarves will detain him for you while you spend time in the city on order of Thorgar. Sound good?)))

(((Time for a little montage ending. Cue the sad medieval music. But...who would be doing the awesome voice over that draws our adventure to a close?))) 9 Alturiak 1372Everyday I remember your sacrifice I assure you it was not in vainThey walked the streets of Stagart, through the stone buildings and temples to Dwarven gods...some they had never even heard of. Hignar Ironboot was their guide. Arik and Thorgar saw to the selling of the Featherale loot. Jaden Highbringer sat in his cell in the nearly empty Dwarven prison. For those who gave their all You live again through meThe group rode through Illul. The city was untouched; unscathed by explosions or attacks. No news traveled the streets of burning warehouses or firery explosions. Careful planning and wise men had stopped them before they even started. No life was lost. My solemn vow to you, now and foreverThey made their way along the road and into Lethtar. Triumphantly, they returned to the capital of the small island nation, successful in their mission. As the mounts carried them further into the city and into Jonathan Preten's Estate, faces turned here and there to look at the large group of men that rode, armored and armed, through the city streets. A small child turned to his mother and whispered something as he pointed at Serol. She looked down to him and nodded. It may be the last time we see this hero So this is an oath to the fallen heroes"We were starting to get worried about you," Jonathan Preten said in a raised tone to the men as they rode through the gates, "but I assumed that no news was good news." There was quite the gathering outside the main building. Men ran to tend to the horses as all dismounted. The temporary additions to the Wolves and the more permanent members began to talk amongst themselves. Some were saying goodbye. Others exchanging information to keep in touch or making arrangements to join one another for future ventures. Charles approached Arik before the Wolves' leader began speaking with anyone else. "We were successful in our quest without ever needing to shed blood. That is a grand success, Arikias Kolendur. I wish you the best," he said as he extended his hand to Arik, "But now I must depart. There are other matters that my god sees fit for me to tend to. And reports to make to my family. I'm sure you understand. Also, the men are requesting their leave of the Wolves now. They have lives and families in Lethtar, but I thought it best to get your permission first." Lurrin's fiancee awaited him. As soon as he had dismounted and turned around, he was wrapped in a hug. "You are always gone it seems," she whispered in his ear, "but always you return. Always keep it that way, my love." Lurrin had no opportunity to respond, his lips were too busy responding to her soft, passionate kiss. Hannah Preten screeched, "Mr. Dench!" as she ran to hug him. She seemed slightly taller now than when they had first met, bending down to embrace the Gnome. She eyed Rigor carefully and gave him a confused look. "What's wrong with your bird, Mr. Dench? He looks sick." Jack, Serol and Thorgar were greeted by Jonathan and his wife. The Lady Preten remained mostly silent as the greetings were exchanged, clearly still unable to view Jack or Serol as anything but her one-time caravan guards. "There is much to be discussed. We have had seven days since the explosion at the cemetery. I am interested to hear what happened there. Also, we have developments with the Drachens and the King. Important matters that need to be discussed, but matters that I think should wait until tomorrow. We have agreed to house a guest for you," Jonathan explained, turning behind them and pointing to a female Elf who had been trying to remain out of the crowd. This is an ode to the friends we lost"This is S'varyl Rel, sister to Kesson Rel, friend and hero to us all," Jonathan explained, "She has been staying with us since yesterday when she came to look for you. Another matter I would love to be told about later, when time permits, of course. We will meet tomorrow morning...after you've had some time...and rest as heroes deserve." S'varyl Rel was beautiful, despite her sadness. In truth, it was her exquisite beauty that made the sadness all the more obvious. It spread into the hearts of any that looked upon her. A woman this beautiful was not to look so mournful. The heart knew it instantly the moment the eyes could see her. "I should like to learn of my brother and the companions he traveled with," S'varyl Rel told them, "I should like that very much." Their memory will not be silenced...nor erased

Greeting Johnathan and his wife, Jack made small talk before S'varyl was introduced.
"Greetings S'varyl, Kesson was a good friend of ours. Anything you need...just ask."

[side bar with Charles 1st then the rest of the men while Jack chats with S'varyl]
"I thank you my friend, and the oddly capable men who were made available for my hire, though in truth, I think some of them look like a few Goodwest guards I have seen in my short days." The firm smile let Charles know how grateful Arik truly was, "Righteousness prevails and the Gentle Lady blesses those would use their mind before using the sword. You are a true friend Charles and I am in your debt. Tell your father and these men of my gratitude as well if you would." He hugged the man and said his goodbyes to the men who had joined him, thanking each individually, and paying out the last of his 40 gold, 2 pieces per man, before getting to Peter.
"You would be of great service to us now though; I always have need of a skilled tracker and would willingly pay you and treat you as a brother. The choice is yours, now and always" then raising his voice, "That goes for all of you, keep the livery with which you were equipped, and remember us well. Should we require your services again, please feel no obligation other than the memory of brotherhood and the easiest money you ever made."
Now Arik had other things to attend to. He had to figure out what to do with Jaden, discuss the next step with Jonathan, see if there was anything he could to help S'varyl, and ravish his fiancee; the pretend argument with Jack had stirred some emotions that with battle behind them would need to be satiated.

(((Are we ready now for the newer thread? If so...I need to know the following:
Other than the requirements that you'll have because of your involvement with the Preten/Drachen situation here in Lethtar and in Illul, what do you want to do in your downtime. Feel free to PM it to me. But, if everyone is satisfied with this as an end to the story, we'll begin a new thread. As a precursor to the adventure, you'll have to speak with some folks in regards to the Illul situation, probably meet up with East once before they skip town forever, deal with the Jaden Highbringer situation, and do whatever else you'd like to [if interesting story-wise] with a little downtime.)))

(((Yeah...that should do...shoulda read here first. Thought the posts would be longer. Just let me know how you want to handle the Highbringer situation...he's your prisoner...and it'll be up to the Pretens to decide his fate. Death is a bit much...but they may cut something off or imprison him for a very long time. lol Especially with Serol hating him so much. Whether you argue the sentence down for him or just let the Pretens handle it, is up to you. He'll be alive long enough to talk one of the King's advisors...which is coming up shortly. Keli, if you'd like...post your S'varyl bit. We can RP that right now and it won't affect the start of the new thread. The Highbringer thing can be resolved further in the new thread. No worries...when I post I think you'll see what I mean.)))
