So whats the story for the narfell stuff we are cooking up now? And are we going to play out the material you have so far or read it over? I remember you mentioning you have 10 stories somewhere.

Yeah, the characters are slaves...taken by an evil master to the small city of N'jast...originally, they were slaves to Zhentirrim, but I think it will work better as a Thayan slaver. The slaver basically thinks he is there to explore some of the ancient sites of the Nar, but he finds out that even he is a puppet of grander schemes. I would like to play them out and then get you guys' feedback on it.

Our original game ran with characters who were commoners and experts for their first few levels...lol...yeah, it was intense. I am likely going to do something fairly similar for this new game...Im certainly going to allow non-humans as well so level might be around 3 to compensate for Ogres and Drow and the like.

Yeah...I always liked that idea myself: starting everyone out as NPC classes and then forcing them to multi-class into a PC class. Though, there are three issues: 1. Other NPC's. Were other NPC's also held to this? Or will the other folk we encounter in the world have the same handicap and be multiclassed PC classes with NPC classes. 2. Restrictions. Can someone play a noble? Does that give the PC too much power too quick if they are a noble? How do you counter that? Is everyone just limited to Commoners, Experts and Adepts? Or are Experts and Adepts even too good? Warriors? lol 3. Most important...Multiclassing. Unless you're playing a Human or Half-Elf or you're plannin' on playin' the favored class of your race, kiss a good chunk of XP goodbye. XP penalties apply even to NPC classes (PrC's are the only exception). So...at that point do we throw in a custom rule for those looking to do a Fighter/Wizard? Or are they forced to either keep that commoner class close in level to the others to keep getting XP like the rest of the group. Anyway...I'm sure there are easy ways to work around those...and I for one probably wouldn't care too much if we kept the XP penalties and were just forced to deal with it. Just a thought/observation to throw out.

We counted these common classes as additional racial preferred classes. The commoner, expert, warrior, and noble are all found among almost every race in the D&D world to some extent; hence, there were no exp point penalties for the first few levels. Adepts werent allowed because the group wasnt allowed to possess magic.
The original group included:
a Nar human, male, Commoner (the cook)1/Rogue 1 a Nar human, female, Rogue 2 (the slacker) a Nar human, male, Commoner (the carpenter)1/Cleric of Chauntea 1 a half Star elf, Expert (the entertainer)2/Bard 1 a half orc, male, Warrior 2/ Barbarian 1 (the brute) a Nar human, male, Warrior 2/Ranger 1 (the hunter) a half orc, male, Commoner (the mason)1/Barbarian 1 a Rokugani, male, Samurai 2/ Fighter 1 (the bodyguard) a Rokugani, female, Samurai 2/ Fighter 1 (the gardener) a Dwarven, male, Expert (the smith)2/Wizard 1 a Damaran, male, Noble (the foreman)1/Cleric of Bane 1 a Nar, male, Commoner (the shepherd)1/Psion 1
So half of the group were 2nd level (they chose their 2nd lv) where as the remainder were 3rd lv, but I dictated their class arrangements. The best part is that the Bard found a Deck of Many Things, made a deal with a devil, and used all of the cool cards to make himself a total badass Lich...lol...the dwarf Wizard went along as his sidekick to make items with him. Good times.
