That might be an interesting thing to do without unbalancing the campaign (and also give Denny the Daylight Adaptation feat for free ). Though, just remember that you'll need to remove those feats from any characters you create when submitting this for publication. That's the only thing I'd remind you of. Unless of course you wanted to make it a kind of optional/variant rule for the supplement...which also works. Anywho...I think I'm pretty much ready to go...gonna have to whip out the books and see what feat I wanna take and then post my link again.

I'm thinking about taking Tireless, ignore that exhaustion after a rage. That or Daylight Adaptation...trying to decide what would be most useful...

Ethran seems nice, but I like Bullheaded too. I'll decide this afternoon.

Sounds cool Ben. Unless you have something super special up your sleeve, here is what each of you starts with (and no, Im not kidding):
Traveler's clothes, backpack, bedroll, waterskin, and 1 tool (handaxe, light pick, spade/club, or light hammer: all d6 weapons)... if you have 4+ ranks in Craft, you also have a set of artisan's tools specific to the skill. Denny also has a Healer's Kit, Cold Weather Outfit, and his holy symbol which acts as a Phylactery of Faithfulness.
It's a massive haul for starting 3rd level characters =P ... the point of the campaign revolves around your humble beginnings.

I didnt see if you posted anything, but I will be happy to help put once I do... as for her familiar, there are a couple of options. One is a spell called 'pocket familiar' which allows you to hide your familiar (a good call in this case since Cronabilis would likely let the jealous Kraphaestres kill it) in a pocket dimension...not real handy, but at least gets you going. The second option is something attuned to a familiar spirit. Not sure if you played Runequest, but the concept Im talking about is a 'Fetch' or 'Spirit Familiar', basically something intangible that helps your spiritual growth and development. An ancestor spirit like Grampy Bone from Fallout 2 would also be a kickass option along these lines. The third is the dangerous one: summon it and find out =D. The last option and number 2 are really my preferred choices, but our final option here is to remember that you're not always going to be a slave, and once you are free, you can summon whatever you wish and have the power to call upon. You have to realize that Cronabilis is a summoner, and a damn powerful one at that, so your familiar would just be bait. Krap is also a total hater. He drinks warm HaterAid because it makes him feel better. Krap would eat your familiar in front of you just to watch you suffer. It would amuse him. Now dont blame the fiend, since he was born that way afterall, but fiends are fiendish and this one especially likes watching 'his worms' wiggle on a hook. Im not a gigantic fan of the traditional familiar only because they are pretty lame in D&D, but a true familiar spirit out of the Runequest/ Psicrystal/ Voodoo types is a kick ass idea. You could definately have an ancestor spirit who helps you learn spells and can prolly end up doing most of the same crap a physical familiar could except deliver touch attacks... then again, any mage using his familiar to deliver touch attacks in combat is asking to lose 500 XP... just my opinion, but I will inevitably allow you to do whatever you want with it Ben.

I like the pocket familiar idea the best, but does that require that the target creature actually BE a familiar? Because as it starts out, she won't have her familiar as she doesn't meet the prerequisit...

Ben- why doesnt she meet the prerequisite? Do you mean the pre-requisite for 'Improved Familiar' ? If so, why not make it your familiar a disembodied fetch for now who is waiting for a 'suitable body' to be housed in? That way you could get the benefits of a familiar with little to no drawbacks and a cool story line in the process?
