So here I am sitting in my infinate boredom this night...chatting aimlessly with my friend, and suddenly an idea strikes.
Why not an campaign about war? One where the petty nuancies of keeping track of your army are eliminated.
You are a rank and file soldier, your name is Mud and more then twenty drill sergeants will be happy to grind their boot in the back of your head as you do push ups out in the rain to remind you of this fact.
Whether you are there as a conscript, a volunteer, or a mercenary. The goal is all the same. Survival and Victory.
Your preformance on the battlefields shall earn you ranks, promotions, and maybe even a place in the history books.
Your enemy is crafty, strong, and well trained. However through preserverance and teamwork you may overcome such challenges and rise above them!
So yeah. I am considering in running a nice warbased campaign here where things like the leadership feat and all that can be forgotten about and we can all enjoy and try out those "what if..." concept we have buried in the back of our brains.
Much as I said, at first you are Mud. You do what the sergeant tells you to do and you damn well like it. However, with deadication and luck you may live long enough to give a few orders of your own!
Characters will start at level 1, possibly 2. Normal races if possible, Humans the most common race in this world.
As it stands now, all the Complete books are allowed including the player's handbook 1 & 2, DMG 1 & 2, Frostburn/Sandstorm (though we may not use them too much if at all), all of the Races of <Blah> books, and so forth. Essentially every WOTC sanctioned book, though this will not be Forgotten Realms there maybe some stuff that can still be added.
Heroes of Battle will be a fairly important book.
Everything else shall be on a case by case basis.
Obviously I have pretty much the same rules as josh...no crazy stupid things like the frenzied bezerker or the shades...
I would prefer if you guys leaned on the neutral to lawful alignment wise and hey if you can all be within one step of each other all the better. Chaotic is hard to fit into a military structure (and live long anyway) and evil...well...you'll see evil later on.
Also the best question is to determine why you are serving? Do you serve because you love your nation so? Or are you serving because they pay you well?
Ask questions...I'll give answers, hopefully with more detail then here...I'm bloody tired. One of my friends seems interested in joining. He was muttering something about a warmage, but he changes his mind almost as often as a woman does so who knows!
